A couple in Bristol has come into a life-changing amount of money, thanks to playing on the bingo.

The money came their way after the 40-year-old women, who wishes to remain anonymous, won £450,000 on the National Bingo Game’s Platinum Jackpot play-off, reports the National Bingo.

She now plans to pay off her best friend’s mortgage, who she was at the bingo with, along with one other friend.

“We always said we would if any one of the four of us won anything big…This will be life changing for us all,” she said.

The lady added that her friend’s husband was away working in China and when they phoned him to pass on the good news about his mortgage he could believe it.

Her brother, who is a financial adviser, will now help the winning women decide where it is best to invest the rest of the cash.

A bingo win in Fleetwood has proved to be a family affair.

The generosity of one daughter has earned her £15,500 after she bought her mum a bingo ticket that had the winning numbers.

Her 63-year-old mum scooped £31,000 playing the National Bingo Game prize after completing a full house in 44 numbers at the Top Ten Club in Poulton Road, Fleetwood, reports National Bingo.

She told the bingo operator: “I was pretty calm when I was told how much I had won, but I think that’s because it took a couple of days for it to sink in.

“I said to my daughter before I went that we may as well split it if I won. I never thought I would win though.”

The lucky lady, who plays bingo three or four times per week, has six children, 23 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

According to the National Bingo, more than three million people play the game in the UK at least twice a week.

Furthermore, many top celebs have confessed to being bingo fans, including Catherine Zeta Jones and ex-Take That singer Robbie Williams.

The National Bingo has begun its search for the 2008 Caller of the Year this month.

Larger-than-life bingo callers who can make two fat ladies look like they are sweet sixteen are being encouraged to enter the nationwide hunt.

Callers need no special qualifications to take part, but do need to be currently employed as a main stage caller with a National Bingo Game-registered club.

National Bingo says: “The length of time you have been a bingo caller doesn’t matter.

“It is your calling skills, your personality and the interest that you take in your work that will count.”

The champion caller will take home £500, plus an all-expenses-paid holiday to Los Angeles, where they will visit Hollywood and Beverly Hills, before taking a trip to Las Vegas.

At this stage, all applicants need to do is send in a completed entry form and a recent photograph of themselves, by June 16th

If successful they will then be asked to prepare and send in a DVD of themselves in action.

According to the National Bingo, around 500 clubs link-up to play the National Game every day of the year, bar Christmas.

Furthermore, in the UK more than three million people play the game at least twice per week.

Players are being offered the chance to skyrocket to success at Virgin Bingo.

Two sisters are suing it for themselves this month, after their other sibling Edna Sexton went back on agreement to split her bingo win three ways.

Aggrieved and out of pocket, Linda Kenny and Doreen Thomas have taken their battle for a share of the £50,000 to the court room, where they hope a judge will make the final call.

Lucky Edna, aged 59, won the cash at playing the National Game at the Buckingham Bingo Palace in Liverpool, during June 2007.

Mrs Kenny told the court this week: “I actually bought Edna’s National Game ticket for her because she was late arriving.

“To do so, I was let into the queue one place ahead of my sister Doreen - so it really should have been hers anyway.”

She also claims that the three sisters had an oral agreement, which they entered into in 2005, that if any of the clan won, they would split the money equally between them.

However, when Edna hit the bingo big time she told the sisters that she was going to save £10,000 and use the rest to go on a shopping spree, which did not go down well.

The case continues this week and its ruling may well set a precedent for other bingo battles.

A woman is keeping her word by sharing her £81,000 bingo windfall.

The 53-year-old Rochdale lady, who wishes to remain anonymous, won the money while playing with her 74-year-old aunt, with whom she had a pact to share any winnings.

She won the National Bingo Game prize of £77,720 at the Buckingham Club in the Middleton Avenue centre, according to the National Bingo.

Her funds were further topped up when she won the regional prize of £3,000 and the house prize of £180, after completing a full house in 46 numbers.

The lucky lady, who is married with two children, told the National Bingo: “I was in shock when I realised how much I had won.

“I like playing at the Buckingham because it’s such a friendly club. I’m still excited and very pleased.”

According to the National Bingo, over three million UK residents play the game every year.

A £36,000 win has put a bingo player on cloud nine this week.

Sue Heath, aged 55, hit the jackpot when playing with her sister-in-law at Walkers Club in the Mansfield Leisure Park.

The business centre manager from Mansfield Woodhouse decided to give bingo a try 18-months ago, after hearing about a local woman who won £100,000.

Sue added that she has not had enough time to take in her win to consider what she will do with them.
