Socialising is an ‘imperative part of online bingo’
Socialising has been described as an imperative part of online bingo by one industry expert this month.
According to BingoPort.co.uk, users of websites such as Paddy Power Bingo, Wink Bingo or Foxy Bingo do not just log on to play the game but also want to interact with other members.
Scott Logan, managing director of the website, said that his firm’s research had revealed that online bingo attracts “a slightly different demographic” than offline bingo halls.
He explained that online bingo players are younger and “more comfortable with technology”, having spent their free time on social networking websites such as Facebook.
“Any operator will tell you that the core of their site is their customer facing chat hosts, who run the bingo chat and serve to build customer loyalty through the online community,” Mr Logan added.
A poll conducted by the Office for National Statistics in 2007, revealed that 16 to 44-year-olds use the internet more than any other age group.
The government body reported that this age group used the internet at least once per day.
