Despite winning a share of the £100,000 Gala bingo national jackpot, one lucky player in Edinburgh had to keep his cool as he had only recently had a triple heart bypass operation.
The 65-year old man, who shares the top prize with four other players from across the country, won the prize at his local club in the Wester Hailes area of the city after he got a full house with just 45 calls.
He has been a regular at the club for several years, originally accompanying his mother, though since retiring he has been playing most mornings and afternoons, despite his mother having sadly died recently.
"I have had a triple heart by-pass and I have a spray to use for angina," he told the game operator National Bingo.
"But I managed not to get too excited and I didn't have to use it."
This latest win brings the amount shared by Edinburgh bingo players to £1.6 million over the past couple of years, notably including the £200,000 jackpot scooped by a player of Mecca's online game early last year.
