By Sarah Smithon Thursday, 24 Jan 2008 After 16 years of playing bingo a man in Kettering has finally been rewarded for his efforts.
The 43-year-old warehouse team leader has won a whopping £50,000, playing bingo at the Gala Club on the High Street in Kettering.
He was with his wife when his lucky stars aligned on Saturday evening.
The couple has three daughters and one son who are aged between 11 and 17.
However, not only did he win the National Bingo Prize on the lucky night, he also bagged the house prize of £60.
With the collective winnings, all the family will now go on a luxury holiday to escape the cold British winter.
He told the National Bingo: "I thought I was in with a chance for the big money in 41 calls and had my fingers crossed. It was an agonising thirty minute wait for the results to come through, and it seemed much longer.
"When they announced how much I had won my wife and I were very happy to say the least."
The National Bingo prize that evening was £100,000 but was shared between the Kettering man and another player in Sunderland.
