By Becky Turner on Wednesday, 17 Jan 2007 After playing bingo for forty years, an 81-year-old woman from Kingswood has won £20,000 during a game at her local bingo hall.
Celebrating winning the Afternoon Delight Game at the Mecca Bingo club at Rosehill, the woman said that she had won £3,000 a number of years ago and that bingo has "been very good" to her, National Bingo Game reports.
Commenting on the prize, the pensioner said that she no longer has to "worry" about things anymore.
"I can afford to turn the heating up whenever I like and if I ever need a new cooker or fridge it's not going to be a big problem for me," she said.
The lucky winner is now planning to spend her winnings on her son and grandson, as well as her friends.
In related news, National Bingo Game reports that a barmaid from Dagenham also won at her local Mecca club recently.
The 57-year-old, who has played the game for thirty years, scooped a £29,000 prize.
