Australia's biggest lottery company is looking to run the UK's National Lottery from 2009. Aussie firm Tattersall's wants to take over the license from current operator Camelot as part of its strategy of international expansion. The proposed bid is the first overseas challenge for control of the National Lottery, with other potential candidates being Sir Richard Branson's People's Lottery, betting firm Ladbrokes and Terra Firma. If the Lottery license should fall to Tattersall's it is likely to be in safe hands. Duncan Fisher, the company's managing director, said that his firm has "a record of 110 years of continuous government-licensed lottery operations", thisismoney reports. The National Lottery was launched in 1994 and has proved immensely successful with the British public. It has been run by Camelot ever since its inception and the company is also looking to bid for another license. Bidders must prepare their submissions before December 15th.
