Big bother over Big Brother fixing

The recent Golden Ticket draw to select a new housemate for the Big Brother house was not fixed, Channel 4 has said.

Critics have suggested that the draw's winner, the surgically-enhanced stripper Susie Verrico, had her number on every ball in the draw machine. In response, the channel has released photographs of the draw in an attempt to prove that this was not the case.

The Sun alleged that the show's bosses had refused to say whether or not Verrico had undergone a police check and that the machine was not filmed as it was put in place.

Even the housemates themselves began to suspect something was fishy. The outspoken Grace said: "They knew she was coming in all along," and Richard added: "I hope the outside world did not hear about the candy wrappers – they will get sued big time for that."

But Phil Edgar-Jones, of Big Brother production company Endemol, hit back, saying: "The draw was totally random and took place live on air for all to see."

According to a Channel 4 spokeswoman, Verrico had applied to be on Big Brother three times before and it was reported that her husband spent thousands of pounds on special Kit Kat bars to try to get her a Golden Ticket.
