By Sarah Smithon Friday, 18 Aug 2006 The seventh series of Big Brother will finally come to an end tonight following a marathon 13-week run.
The favourite to win the show and take home the £100,000 prize is Tourettes sufferer Pete, although loud-mouthed Aisleyne and spaced-out Glyn are also thought to be in with a chance.
William Hill announced that gambling on the show's outcome had smashed all previous records for reality TV shows, with around £6 million taken in bets across the country.
The current series has been at the centre of several controversies since it began back in May.
It was criticised for choosing vulnerable individuals to participate, including the surgically-enhanced paranoiac Lea and pre-op transsexual Sam.
Later, the producers were forced to deny that the golden ticket KitKat promotion was rigged and most recently fans were angered by a vote that sent previously evicted housemates back in for another chance.
Unsurprisingly, the media coverage generated has helped to pull in the viewers - an average of 4.6 million have tuned in to watch, up from last year's 4.5 million.
Tonight's finale is expected to set a new viewing figure record.
