By Sarah Smithon Tuesday, 29 Jan 2008 A mother-of-two has bagged the biggest bingo win this country and maybe even the world has ever seen.
Christine Bradfield of Bargoed near Caerphilly went "crazy" after winning £1.1 million when her numbers came up at her local bingo hall in Merthyr Tydfil.
The 53-year-old grandmother said: "I just love the game. I have been playing since I was old enough at 18 and I won't stop now."
After realising how much money she had won, still in shock, Christine phoned her crane-driver-husband Ray to break the fantastic news.
Steve Hanley-Locke, deputy manager at the Castle Leisure club, said the bingo hall was "like a football match when somebody scores a goal" when the 600 other players realised how much money had been won.
He said: "The atmosphere was electric last night. We've had million pound winners in the UK in the past but nobody has ever surpassed that."
Bingo-mad Christine works part-time at a local garage, which she says she will be returning to on Wednesday to complete her normal shift, despite the huge change in her fortunes.
