By Sarah Smithon Wednesday, 19 Mar 2008 A man has won a jackpot of over £24,000 despite only starting playing bingo two months ago.
Paul Ian Smith, 49 from Hull, won the National Bingo Game prize of £20,700 together with the regional prize of £3,262 and the house prize of £286, National Bingo reports.
Mr Smith, who is a partner in a coach company, had his lucky night in the Mecca Bingo club in Hull on Friday 14th March.
He and his girlfriend, Tracy Ann Millington, usually play bingo twice a fortnight and Mr Smith said: "I couldn't believe it when they told me how much I won".
"Everyone in the club was really nice and we had a bit of a hangover the next day from celebrating," he said.
The National Bingo Game is a multiple game where preselected numbers are called in the same window in each participating bingo club across the country. UK law permits only three multiple games a day in bingo clubs.
Mr Smith has to share the national prize of £62,100 with winners in Sunderland and Chester.
In February a 64-year-old woman from Didcot won £390,000 on the new Platinum Jackpot game from the National Bingo. The woman however does not wish to be named, reports bingo news site unluckyforsome.co.uk.
