Brett Hyrjak has been crowned the bingo Caller of the Year at the Gala Bingo hall at Surrey Quays on Sunday November 26th.
The 30-year-old caller from the Gala Bingo club in Bognor Regis fought of stiff competition from the winners of five other regional heats to take the coveted title.
Speaking at the event, which was hosted by TV presenter Esther Rantzen, Brett said that he was "gobsmacked" at being awarded the prize, reports the Sun.
"I think it's incredible to be named the best in your profession. For the next year I'm going to be an ambassador for this great game," he commented.
As well as receiving £500 in prize money, Brett will be jetting-off with his partner Maxine, also 30, to Las Vegas where he will have the chance to call the numbers in one of the city's casinos.
The competition, which is now it its 12th year, gave the contestants the opportunity to showcase their talents in front of the judges, with each competitor going head-to-head by calling a page.
