A new scheme to help encourage greater interaction between generations within the community has been launched in Liverpool.
Every fortnight, pensioners and teenagers enjoy bingo sessions together as part of the Our Community: Our Roots initiative run by the Three Churches project, Parents Against Drugs Abuse (PADA), Kinship Carers and the Salvation Army, the Daily Mail reports.
The sessions are aimed at dispelling myths about hoodie wearing youths, while also giving them the opportunity to get involved in planning activities.
"We wanted the older generation to realise that not everyone who dresses like this are thugs - these are just nice young lads," commented Pauline Thornley of PADA.
Aside from bingo, the meetings have also incorporated lessons on how to use mobile phones and speed friendship, similar to speed dating.
It is estimated that eight per cent of the UK's population currently play bingo, according to Bingo Weekly.
