A 57-year-old woman who scooped more than £100,000 at bingo shouted louder than she ever had before when she realised she had won.

She won the National Game at the Gala Club in Lichfield Road, Wednesfield – the second time the bingo club has produced a National Game winner in the space of two weeks, the National Bingo Game Association reports.

"It was the loudest I have ever shouted in my life when I called house," she said. She kept her fingers crossed and said a prayer while she was waiting for the result and when it turned out she had won £103,302, she went into shock.

"This is something you dream about but never think it will happen to you," said the former receptionist who first began playing bingo with her mother.

Her previous biggest win was £300 and now she intends to pay off her mortgage, treat her family and use the rest to make her retirement more comfortable.

The previous National Bingo winner at Wednesfield's Gala Bingo Club was a 20-year-old Walsall woman who had only played bingo there once before.
