By Sarah Smithon Tuesday, 24 Jul 2007 The winner of the latest big national bingo jackpot has revealed he is a regular player at the club where he scooped the prize, despite it being around 80 miles away from his home.
The 68 year old has been a member of the North Parade Club for the past 25 years, having been a fan of the game for more than 40.
However, it is more than the game that leads him to make the trip to Derby twice a week.
In addition to the friendly staff, the club is also his daughter's favourite venue and the pair of them regularly get together for a game.
Now, having won £50,000 on top of the £98 house prize after completing his card in 41 calls, he can consider the North Parade club his lucky bingo hall and he has vowed to keep playing.
"The staff are friendly, there's a warm welcome and it's an enjoyable night out," he told game operator National Bingo.
Just last week, a 61-year-old woman won £100,000 at the Flutters Bingo Hall in Rushden, the third big win at the club in the last three years.
According to the operator, the actor Shane Richie once worked as a bingo caller at the club.
