By Becky Turner on Monday, 22 May 2006 A bingo player from Peterborough has struck lucky and landed a jackpot of more than £20,000. The man, who used to run a washing machine business, only began playing bingo regularly a short while ago. But fortune was with him as he won a total of £20,461 in the Afternoon Delight Game at the Gala Bingo Club in Westfield Road, Peterborough. "It is a very nice club with a good atmosphere and everyone is friendly," he said, adding that it was something of a shock when he found out he had won. He explained: "I have got a dickey heart, so I had to try and stay calm and not get excited. I don't think it has sunk in completely yet." Unfortunately his wife, who he described as "an ardent bingo player", died eighteen months ago. However, he has two sons, two daughters and nine grandchildren and plans to spend the winnings on treating them.
