By Becky Turner on Tuesday, 13 Mar 2007 A lucky bingo jackpot winner thought she was the subject of an elaborate practical joke when it was announced she had won.
The 58-year-old woman from Edinburgh said that she could not believe that she had won the Afternoon Delight Game at the Gala Bingo club in Wester Hailes, the National Bingo Game reports.
"I though somebody would jump out from Candid Camera and tell me it was all a joke! I only started playing bingo for something to do and I'm certainly glad I did," she said.
The winner, who took home the £20,500 prize, said that she now plans to donate a portion of the money to animal protection charities and may also take a trip to Rome.
Meanwhile, a 73-year-old from Bradford won a jackpot worth £101,200 at her local Mecca Bingo hall recently.
The woman claimed to have been playing the game for 40 years and now plays three times a week.
