Bingo wins – it's all in the name

By Penny Walker on Wednesday, 16 Jul 2008

People called Debbie are more likely to win at Bingo, according to a new study.

Research conducted by BingoPort.co.uk highlights that people with this moniker are the luckiest when it comes to playing online bingo.

It was followed by Jennifer, Kelly, Nicola and Dorothy, which completed the top five.

Women named Mandy, Shirley, Lucy or Irene proved to be the most unlucky, rarely taking home any cash.

The men who are most likely to scoop a big win are named Charlie, followed by Bob, Chris, Mark and Will.

Commenting on these findings, Scott Logan, managing director of the online bingo site, said: "Our research shows Debbie's do win more competitions online than any other women's name.

"They also regard themselves as lucky so their positive attitude is obviously working."

Meanwhile, recent research from Mecca Bingo suggests that a win at the bingo hall or via an online bingo game can get men in the mood for romance.
