By Penny Walker on Tuesday, 22 Jul 2008 A 20-year-old bingo fan has been stepping on the scales at her local Mecca Bingo in a bid to shed the pounds and raise money for charity.
Keri Prowse of Exeter, who works at the hall in the food and drink section, has lost two stone and raised money for Whizz Kidz, a disabled children's charity since she started weighing herself weekly in front of the bingo crowd, reports the Express and Echo.
Speaking to the newspaper, Ms Prowse admits it is "nerve-racking" having her weight shouted out in front of the crowd by the bingo caller but adds that it is "a good incentive".
Two of Ms Prowse's colleagues are also taking part in the sponsored weight-loss and are being supported by family, friends and fellow bingo fans.
"All the customers ask how we are doing and give us a round of applause after the weigh-in which is really nice. It's nice having the other two girls as well because there is a lot of support," she notes.
Meanwhile, Mecca Bingo recently gave online bingo player Nicola300 her very own smart car to whiz around in after she won one of its competitions.
