By Sarah Smithon Thursday, 1 Mar 2007 Members of staff from a Gala Bingo club in Swindon have been helping out a local children's centre as part of the firm's Business in the Community scheme.
Six of the club's workers from the Greenbridge bingo hall spent two days clearing an area behind the Barnardo's Children's Centre and helped to lay two new pathways, the Swindon Advertiser reports.
Dee King, assistant manager at the club, described the group's work as "fantastic" and said that some members of staff will be returning to complete work later on.
"It was great to be able to get out into the open air and do something that you wouldn't do every day" Ms King said.
"Everyone did a fantastic job and they put in a lot of effort."
The Gala Coral Group, which owns Gala Bingo, recently announced that its members of staff have raised over £1 million for Breakthrough Breast Cancer and £200,000 for the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC).
