By Sarah Smithon Monday, 26 Feb 2007 A 90-year-old bingo caller from Wolverhampton will be celebrating her birthday on Tuesday, but has no plans to call it a day.
Annie Wheway, who calls the numbers for her fellow residents at the Hayling Grove sheltered housing scheme, only began playing bingo a few years ago, although she now describes it as her "favourite" game, the Express & Star reports.
"I really enjoy calling out the numbers and I have no intention of stopping just because I'm turning 90," she told the newspaper.
The mother-of-three, who also has two grandchildren and one great-grandchild, has been playing for five years and calls the numbers twice a week.
In related news, the Bromsgrove Advertiser recently reported that 80-year-old Gordon Hayward, a former care home inspector, currently enjoys hosting bingo games at the Wayside New Road home.
Mr Hayward said that he would continue as a member of the activity coordinating team to provide entertainment for residents as long as he could.
