Black Sabbath members reform without Ozzy

By Sarah Smithon Thursday, 26 Oct 2006

Spaced-out rocker Ozzy Osbourne has been left out of a Black Sabbath reunion tour.

The band's guitarist Tony Iommi, together with bassist Geezer Butler and drummer Bill Ward, are reforming together with replacement singer Ronnie James Dio under the name Heaven and Hell. An international tour is expected early next year.

Publicist Maureen O'Connor said: "The fans have been wanting to see this for years and years. Now was just the time."

Ozzy Osbourne, known to most people for his hilarious bumbling appearances on MTV's The Osbournes, left Black Sabbath in the 1970s after falling out with other band members.

A statement on his official website claims that the reunion is not a Black Sabbath comeback: "Tony Iommi and Ronnie Dio are working on a project together which has nothing to do with Black Sabbath. There is only one Black Sabbath."

Heaven and Hell is the name of the first album that Dio recorded with Black Sabbath in the 1980s.
