By Sarah Smithon Thursday, 8 Jun 2006 The second series of Extras, the comedy devised by Ricky Gervais, is to feature pop legend David Bowie and actor Orlando Bloom, as well as Coldplay frontman Chris Martin. Also to appear in the show which is famous for featuring a celebrity cameo in each episode are Sir Ian McKellen, Germaine Greer and Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe. Filming on the new series began on Monday and, according to The Sun, the Bowie episode has already wrapped. In it, Gervais' character Andy Millman is desperate to meet the pop star and bribes his way into a VIP area to do so. The BBC 2 show is co-written by Gervais and his comedy partner, Stephen Merchant. The first series won two prizes at last April's Rose d'Or TV awards one for best sitcom and another for best sitcom actress (Ashley Jensen, who plays Maggie). According to reports, Madonna, Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt were all interested in being in the new series but will not appear in the show.
