A great-grandmother from Bradford has finally hit the big-time on the bingo – after playing for more than 50 years.
The resilient lady explained that the win of more than £20,000 came after a lifetime of hard graft, the National Bingo Game Association reports.
"I have never had owt in my life," she said. "I started in the mills at 14, worked in a nursing home for many years and then looked after elderly people right up until I was 70."
However, her luck changed when she was at the Gala Club in Oasby Croft, Bradford. She ended up winning £20,546 on the Afternoon Delight Game and plans to share the money with her daughter.
She explained that her daughter was "jumping for joy all over the place" when the bingo hall announced how much she had won.
The woman has always played bingo four to five times each week but has never had a big win.
