By Sarah Smithon Monday, 19 Feb 2007 Trend-setting Pop star Britney Spears surprised onlookers by appearing at a tattoo parlour in Los Angeles with a shaved head.
Ms Spears, who recently separated from her husband Kevin Federline, went to a salon in the city and ignored the owners' attempts to dissuade her from cutting off all her hair, the Associated Press reports.
Esther Tognozzi, owner of the salon, said she had tried to reason with the star, asking if she was "having a bad day" and asking if it was best to "wait a little bit?"
The singer, who is rumoured to have recently checked herself out of a rehab centre, revealed her new look while getting a new tattoo on her wrist, the BBC reports.
Ms Tognozzi said that Britney's hair is now to go up for auction on eBay - along with her drinks can and a lighter - with the proceeds to go to charity.
