By Becky Turner on Monday, 8 Jan 2007 Three days after Christmas, a Burnley-based landscape gardener won over £53,258 playing bingo.
Winning the house prize of £229, the regional prize of £2,029 and the National Bingo Game prize of £50,000, the 38-man, who wishes to remain anonymous, has said he will visit his family in Australia and provide for his son, Burnley Today reports.
He will also share his winnings with his bingo-playing wife and two friends.
"I knew it was going to be good as I was crossing off the numbers so quickly," the man told the Burnley Express.
"I still thought I had probably only won the regional. To win the national is just fantastic," he added.
The man, who has been playing for 20 years, won the prize at the Gala Bingo hall in Centenary Burnley.
Last month, former That's Life! Presenter Esther Rantzen presented Gala Bingo Club caller Brett Hyrjak with Butlins with the Bingo caller of the year award.
