By Penny Walker on Wednesday, 23 Aug 2006 Andy Lee is one of the best bingo callers in the country.
The 21-year-old, who works at Carlisle's Gala Club, is aiming to land the title of North West Bingo Caller of the Year at a contest next month, having sent the judges a video of his inimitable bingo calling skills.
"Even at just 21, Andy is a committed and vibrant caller who is always eager to do his best," said his manager Steve Longstaff. "He is a true professional."
Andy knows that it won't be easy to land the coveted title, because intense competition will be in store from bingo callers from Manchester, Blackpool and Liverpool.
However, if his skills win him through, he'll be heading to the national final of the competition in London later on this year. The winner will receive a trip to Las Vegas and the chance to call a bingo game in the world's gaming capital.
He reveals the secret of brilliant bingo calling: "I make a real point of really getting to know the regular players and always welcome new members too.
"I go the extra mile to encourage them to come again. I believe that a bingo caller is an entertainer."
