By Becky Turner on Tuesday, 24 Oct 2006 A young care assistant from Fleetwood has scored big at bingo - even though it was only the fifth time she'd played.
Claire, 19, was playing at the Top Ten Club in Poulton Road on October 10th when Lady Luck decided that it was her night, the National Bingo Game Association reports.
She had first played at the Top Ten Club with a friend because she was pregnant with her second child and didn't want to drink. "My friend persuaded me to play, even though I didn't really fancy it at first," she said.
However, she obviously got a taste for the game because she returned several more times with her boyfriend and won a £52,000 jackpot at the October 10th visit. When she realised she'd won (after 34 calls) she was "gobsmacked, shocked and shaking".
Claire plans to buy a car and put down a deposit on a house with the winnings - but not before going on a shopping spree.
