By Penny Walker on Monday, 8 Sep 2008 A north-west London woman emphasised her love for bingo last week by playing the game on her 100th birthday.
The Harrow Observer reports that Muriel Walton was presented with some special gifts when she turned up to get her eyes down at her local Gala Bingo hall.
Gala Bingo gave the Harrow centenarian 100 free passes to play the popular numbers game, with each pass representing one year of her life so far.
Employees from the bingo operator welcomed Ms Walton with the surprise gesture as she is a regular at the club. Commenting to the newspaper, the birthday girl said: "I don't know what the key to making 100 is, you'll have to ask the man upstairs, but I guess being active as often as I can has helped."
She also claimed that she hates staying indoors. This comes in the same week the Bexley Times reported that ex-bingo hall worker Joakim Christou celebrated his 100th birthday in Welling.
