By Becky Turner on Tuesday, 12 Dec 2006 A school cleaner from Workington, Cumbria, went straight back to playing bingo the day after she scooped a £200,000 jackpot.
Valerie Hargrave, 44, won the National Bingo Game jackpot while playing at her local club, as well as the Opera club's own prize and the regional prize, the News & Star reports.
The lucky winner told the newspaper how her husband, who is currently working away in America, did not believe her when she rang him to say she had won the cash.
"He said he wasn't in the mood for a wind-up. I had to keep telling him it was true," she said.
Valerie said that she now plans to pay off her mortgage and to treat both her parents and her in-laws.
Last year, the manager of the Gala Bingo club in Carlisle won £81,000 at the Opera club, one of a number of people to win some of the £2.3 million the firm's three bingo halls have given out in prizes since 1998, the Times and Star reports.
