Cleaner scoops £1.2m

By Sarah Smithon Tuesday, 25 Mar 2008

A 38-year-old has cleaned up at the bingo this week.

Soraya Lowell, who is a cleaner from Hamilton, scooped just under £1.2 million at the Club 3000 bingo hall in Coatbridge over the Easter weekend.

According to the National Bingo, her win could be the biggest the bingo world has ever seen.

Ms Lowell said of her win: "It just won't sink in yet. I haven't slept at all, but I will be back at work on Tuesday as usual.

"I clean offices until 13.30 GMT and I don't intend to give up my job. I like the girls I work with, and they have already told me not to pack it in."

The lucky lady has only been a member at the club since it opened 16 months ago and says her first bingo experience was playing as a young child with her grandmother.

Soraya has three daughters aged 13, 15, and 21 as well as a 19-year-old son, who has kindly offered to help his mum spend her winnings.
