By Simon Jones on Wednesday, 13 Sep 2006 There are more than 100 online bingo websites in the UK now and their popularity is reflected in the launch of the UK part of the Chat Manager of the Year site (www.cmoftheyear.com).
CM of the Year began giving monthly and annual awards in 2001 for US sites but the popularity of UK online bingo has now given rise to a separate UK section.
"It's important to recognise the hard work done by CMs," said Jemima of CM of the Year. "It's not only a job but a hobby and a lifestyle. Players make real friendships through chat and CMs play host to that."
Bingobase affiliate sites are doing particularly well in the chat room stakes. This week, Gala Bingo was voted best of the bunch, with Jackie named as the best CM.
Gala knocked Mecca Bingo off the top spot, whose CM Dave had previously been voted number one.
Also in the top ten were Bingo Palace, Bingomania, Think Bingo, Bingonanza, Bingos UK and Bingo Scotland.
