By Sarah Smithon Friday, 29 Sep 2006 Courtney Love has set out to shock once again, this time posing for a photograph with a Kurt Cobain lookalike in a take-off of a biblical scene.
The picture is to be included in photographer David LaChappelle's new book of images, "Heaven to Hell" and features Courtney dressed like the Virgin Mary and holding a dying man in her arms.
He is made to look like Jesus and also bears a striking resemblance to Kurt Cobain, the troubled lead singer of Nirvana who shot himself dead in 1994. Instead of crucifixion wounds, the man has punctures on his arms that look like injection marks.
Cobain was a heroin addict who had enough of the drug to kill three people in his system when he died.
Love, an actress and rock singer, is herself no stranger to controversy, having been arrested on drugs charges and once baring her boobs on the David Letterman show.
She also recently revealed that one of the tracks on Nirvana's seminal album Nevermind was written about her.
