By Sarah Smithon Thursday, 4 Oct 2007 A bingo player in Coventry has cashed in, winning £59,000.
The lucky lady was playing the newly launched Gala High 5 game at Walsgrave Gala Bingo club in Coventry when she hit the jackpot.
The win came as a shock as at first she thought she'd only won £6,383.
However, under the Gala High 5 game rules, if house is called on a number five the player can claim 50 per cent of the rollover jackpot and the other plays in the club share the remaining 50 per cent.
So when she called on the number 55 her win increased almost ten-fold.
Gary Colledge, Gala Bingo club manager, told iccoventry.co.uk: "We're delighted to have announced our first club winner of Gala High 5 and the second in the Coventry area."
It has been a lucky few weeks for bingo players with a player in Glasgow becoming the first ever bingo millionaire.
Margaret Shearer, who always carries a miniature Buddha figure in her handbag for luck, was playing the Big'N when she won a cool million.
