By Sarah Smithon Friday, 19 May 2006 Pete Doherty is so determined to win supermodel ex Kate Moss back from her new man, Russell Brand, that he is to take a new stab at kicking his heroin addiction.
Doherty, the lead singer of indie rock group Babyshambles, is allegedly planning to check into a clinic in Oxfordshire where he will undergo a procedure to have a drug inserted into his stomach that will prevent heroin having an effect on him.
News that Moss has got together with MTV presenter and comedian Brand has apparently hit Doherty hard. Brand himself is a reformed drug addict.
A source told The Sun: "Kate really loves Pete but she cannot be with him if he continues to use drugs.
"Russell is perfect for her because he has managed to get clean – and he makes her laugh. Pete was furious to hear that she is dating him – especially as he is a pal of Pete's old Libertines bandmate Carl Barat."
