By Sarah Smithon Monday, 31 Dec 2007 A Mecca Bingo club in Wrexham has made two players winners this Christmas time, surely making it one of the luckiest clubs in England.
Local JCB driver Barry Darbyshire was the second player to scoop more than £17,000 at the club, playing the National Bingo Game on Christmas eve.
The 52-year-old was playing with his wife when he won.
He told the National Bingo: "I didn't realise how many numbers had been called; I thought it was more
My wife was very shocked and started crying!"
The duo have been playing bingo since the club opened after being converted from an old Odeon cinema and pay it a visit at least two or three times per week.
With their two sons and three grandchildren the couple say they enjoyed a "brilliant Christmas".
Barry added: "We have a few ideas what to do with money but haven't decided definitely yet
But we will do something good with it."
Six days before Barry won, another Wrexham local walked off with a wedge of bingo cash, which should help them see in the new year in style.
