By Sarah Smithon Wednesday, 14 Jun 2006 Auction website eBay has launched two new community-based features eBay Wiki and Skype Me. eBay Wiki is a feature that allows buyers and sellers using eBay to share information generated by users. This will mean that, instead of reading through back-and-forth communications about a certain subject, users will be able to visit a page of aggregated information. Meanwhile, Skype Me is the first time eBay has trialled the internet voice and text service since it bought Skype last year for a staggering $2.6 billion. People wanting more information on a problem will be able to connect with the seller using a Skype Me button, allowing real-time voice or text chats. eBay's Bill Cobb said that "Skype represents a tremendous opportunity for our sellers to connect even more closely with their buyers". The Skype Me service, which will begin on June 19th, will usher in a new wave of online customer service. The first product categories to feature the service will include property listings, cars and trucks and diamond solitaire rings.
