By Sarah Smithon Friday, 15 Dec 2006 Sir Elton John didn't see the funny side of a prank played by Robbie Williams while onstage in Australia when the star told the audience which hotel room the veteran rocker was staying in.
Speaking to the Spectator magazine, David Furnish, 44, the singer's partner, described how Sir Elton had branded the joke as "irresponsible delinquency" before seeking his revenge - by taunting the former boyband member about the success of his ex-bandmates.
Sir Elton pushed a note under Robbie's door which read: "Dear Robbie, Take That … number one single and album. Great result, love Elton."
According to the Sun, the pair have not seen eye-to-eye since 2004 when Robbie claimed Sir Elton had attempted to kidnap him in a desperate attempt to get him to stop taking drugs.
Meanwhile, a friend of Sir Elton told the newspaper that the rift wasn't serious and that the pair were "having a laugh".
