Elton John's sweet tribute marks concerts in 50 states

By Sarah Smithon Friday, 18 Jul 2008

Pop superstar Elton John is to have a new flavour of Ice Cream named in honour of him by frozen treat giants Ben & Jerry's.

According to Female First magazine, the limited edition dessert will feature "decadent" chocolate ice cream complemented by peanut butter, cookie dough, butter brickle and white chocolate chunks.

The treat will be presented to Elton when he performs in Vermont, where the company was founded.

His upcoming show in the region will be the first time he has performed in Vermont, the only state he has not held a concert in so far.

It will be named Goodbye Yellow Brickle Road after the singer's notable album, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.

The news provider adds that Elton reportedly lent a hand in designing the indulgent treat, with a spokesman for Ben & Jerry's Sean Greewood, telling it: "Elton said, 'Chocolate and peanut butter, guys, if you can make something like that work.'"

Earlier this year, Ben & Jerry's named a flavour after US singer Willie Nelson, the Wille Nelson Peach Cobbler.

Rolling Stone reports that other famous individuals to have a flavour create in their honour are Jerry Garcia and the Dave Matthews Band.
