By Sarah Smithon Monday, 6 Nov 2006 Rock legend Sir Elton John shocked fans at a concert by pleading to be dropped by his record company on stage.
The flamboyant star was performing in New York when he introduced a song from his latest album, which he said had not been promoted by his label Universal.
Sir Elton launched into a rant strewn with four-letter words as he claimed that Universal had not spent a dollar on plugging his album, entitled "The Captain and the Kid".
During his on-stage tirade, the singer used the "F-word" 15 times inside one minute, saying that his record company was not doing anything to support the album.
"I'm going to play a song but I'm sure you haven't heard it because the f*****s haven't promoted it," he said.
"F*** Universal. Please drop me. I'm 58 and I don't care anymore."
This is not the first time that Sir Elton has hit the headlines for one of his outbursts, after an incident at a Taiwanese airport two years ago in which he branded waiting TV crews and photographers "vile pigs".
He also famously criticised Madonna at an awards ceremony after she received an award for Best Live Act.
