By Penny Walker on Friday, 10 Oct 2008 A bingo story described as "emotional" and "tender" will be shown at the Manchester International Festival (MIF) in 2009.
Neil Bartlett is behind the show that will be on stage at the Royal Exchange Theatre next summer, reports the Guardian.
Alex Poots, the artistic director at MIF, told the newspaper that the title of the piece is Everyone Loves a Winner.
It is about "a well-loved but overlooked pastime - bingo" and will involve elements of audience participation.
Other interactive bingo-themed shows have made their way on to television screens this year, including Bingo Lotto with Joe Pasquale and Bingo Night Live.
Indeed, cash prizes will be given out to members of the audience as the Manchester play unfolds.
This comes as musical comedy Nunsense runs in the US. The Wire reports that the show involves nuns playing bingo, among other intriguing goings on.
