England are through to the quarter-finals of the World Cup, thanks to a trademark free kick from captain David Beckham. It is thought that yesterday's game against Ecuador had the largest British TV audience of all time at up to 32 million viewers surpassing the 31.5 million people who watched Princess Diana's funeral in 1997. Beckham's goal the only one of the match meant that he is the first England player to have scored in three separate World Cup tournaments. But Becks wasn't feeling too well and he threw up on the pitch shortly after scoring. Striker Wayne Rooney completed a full 90 minutes for the first time since his much-publicised recovery from a broken foot. England now face Portugal in the quarter-finals, after Big Phil Scolari's team overcame Holland in a farcical match that saw four players sent off and a record number of yellow cards handed out.
