Experienced bingo player scoops £20k

A 69-year-old woman who has been playing bingo for over 20 years has finally got her hands on a big prize.

The unnamed woman was playing at her local bingo hall, the Gala Club in Welton Road, Bromborough, when her numbers came up.

She has been playing bingo games at that particular hall since 2003 but her career in the game spans over two decades.

However, the woman said that she had never won a bingo jackpot before and was gob smacked when she realised that she had taken the £20,000 prize.

"I was quite calm when I shouted house because I honestly didn't believe that I would win the national prize, even though people around me kept telling me I would," she revealed.

"But then it was a bit of a shock when they announced I had won. My daughter was equally shocked and said 'Oh you're joking' when I told her."

The woman said that she had no major plans for the cash but would treat herself to a new piece of jewellery and some new curtains and would spend the rest as and when she needed it.
