Forget bingo wings with Mecca's new exercises

By Sarah Smithon Tuesday, 13 Nov 2007

Bingo wings could be a thing of the past if claims from Mecca Bingo that playing the game is good for your health are correct.

Mecca Bingo has revealed on its website that scientists now believe that playing bingo can be good for your health as it concentrates the brain and improves social skills.

The site also recommends some handy exercises players can undertake if they are feeling inspired to improve their health – some of which can even be done in the bingo hall.

Shoulder shrugs are top of Mecca's list. Players should sit upright in their chairs and "slowly lift both shoulders as if they are shrugging and then relax", repeating the motion eight to ten times, to tone the shoulder area.

Leg raises, knee lifts and calf rises are also highly recommended to get the blood pumping and turn the muscles which are more used to doing the ironing into iron.

But best of all is the arm curl, which could help players eradicate the infamous bingo wings which can plague ladies as they age.

An arm curl requires the player to fetch a can of soup or a book and then with their arms by their sides, slowly bend their arm raising the weight, repeating this action ten to fifteen times.

Following all that exercise, players may want to sit down and log on to an online bingo site and enjoy some light relief!
