Claims that an advert for online bingo provider Foxy Bingo targeted children have been dismissed by the Advertising Standards Agency (ASA).
According to Bingostreet.com one viewer complained that the TV ad, which sees the bingo site's mascot, a man dressed as a fox, strolling down a street followed a gang of people is appealing to youngsters.
However, the ASA disregarded the complaint, noting that as the Foxy character is designed to represent an older figure it is appealing to a target audience of women aged over 35.
The authority also stated that as the advert promoted gambling it was subject to scheduling restrictions and could not be broadcast adjacent to programmes aimed at under 18s.
According to the news provider, Foxy Bingo has described its character as "mature" and dressed in a "smart, formal suit".
