By Simon Jones on Tuesday, 21 Oct 2008 Numbers game group Gala Bingo has left the industry's trade association, it has emerged.
But the organisation itself has indicated that one company's decision to leave does not affect the group's role in representing the sector in the UK.
In a statement, Bingo Association chairman Sir Peter Fry claimed that there are still some big-name bingo firms such as Mecca within the alliance.
He said that the trade group represents the numbers game sector in "a robust and successful manner".
It also provides a "cohesive voice" for bingo across the UK, he added.
Commenting further, Sir Peter remarked that the Bingo Association will "remain an important conduit" between the government and its members during a period where the industry faces a number of challenges.
Tuesday November 11th sees the association's executive council congregate for one of its bi-monthly meeting. Gala Bingo's decision to leave the organisation may be one of the matters on the agenda to be discussed.
