By Sarah Smithon Thursday, 29 Jun 2006 Pop duo Goldfrapp are apparently the frontrunners to record the theme music for the new James Bond film, Casino Royale. The latest 007 flick will feature a new Bond, as Pierce Brosnan steps aside to make room for Daniel Craig, and it is expected the film will take a new, edgier direction. Appropriate, then, that Goldfrapp should be chosen to provide the score the electronica group is responsible for cutting edge pop hits such as Ooh La La and Fly Me Away that have resonated with listeners. A source speaking to the Daily Mirror said: "Alison and Will are absolutely thrilled. Nothing has been signed yet, but they're the hot favourites. "They're a slightly cooler choice than you'd expect but producers are determined to make Casino Royale the edgiest Bond yet to appeal to younger people." The pair, Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory, can count Madonna among their fans the pop queen responsible for the title track of Bond's 2002 outing, Die Another Day.
