By Sarah Smithon Thursday, 25 Jan 2007 Among the predictable names appearing in a new list of the 100 sexiest men around the world, there were a few surprises - including Gordon Brown.
The chancellor was ranked 97th in the list compiled by New Woman (NW) magazine, behind the likes of the new James Bond star Daniel Craig, Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom, with the top honours going to the four reunited members of Take That.
Although the Scottish politician was beaten by David Cameron who was voted 87th in the list, Helen Johnston, editor at NW, said that women have begun to see a different side of the chancellor.
"With regards to Gordon Brown sneaking in for the first time at 97th, power is undoubtedly an aphrodisiac, but we've seen a softer side to the Iron Chancellor recently and women definitely respond to a more human approach," she remarked.
The 55-year-old, who was the oldest man to feature on the list, was voted ahead of Pete Doherty and Chris Moyles, the BBC reports.
