By Becky Turner on Monday, 20 Nov 2006 A 71-year-old great-grandmother from Telford has scooped a £20,619 bingo jackpot at her local Mecca bingo hall in Southwater Square.
The woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, told the Shropshire Star that she plays four times a week and had completed a full house in 46 numbers.
Commenting on her prize, the woman said that although she had won £1,000 in the past, she "never dreamed" she would win so much.
"I will look after the children with the money and carry on playing bingo," she told the newspaper.
A spokesman for Rank Group that owns Mecca bingo clubs and currently boasts 1.1 million members that play in its 114 clubs nationwide, recently stated that a winner of one of its online games won £50,000, Scotland on Sunday reported.
According to the company, there is "potential" for even bigger prizes to be won on a number of its games online.
