By Becky Turner on Friday, 1 Dec 2006 A mother-of-five from Grimsby is looking forward to a merry Christmas after winning a £26,000 jackpot at her local bingo hall.
The 36-year-old woman scooped the prize during her second visit to the Gala Bingo club on Pasture Street, the Grimsby Telegraph reports.
The woman, who won the National Bingo Game jackpot, as well as a regional and club prize, said the money was "wonderful", especially as her husband has been unable to work due to a recent accident.
"I can pay off all our bills and be debt free and I will buy a new car," she told the newspaper.
The National Bingo Game prize totalled £50,000 but will be shared between the winner in Grimsby and another winner from Leeds.
The game is now second only to the National Lottery as the country's biggest computer controlled game and is played in an estimated 500 bingo clubs every day.
