Top Gear presenter Richard Hammond felt "mad as a bag of snakes" after the 288mph car crash that nearly killed him.
It was five weeks ago that Hammond, nicknamed Hamster because of his diminutive stature, crashed a jet-powered car at an airfield in Yorkshire while filming for the new series of the popular TV show.
Now he has given an interview to the Daily Mirror, for whom he is a motoring columnist, telling of his experience and saying that his mind "was like an office that had been utterly ransacked … My own mind was like a foreign place. I didn't know where anything was."
He also revealed that he had regressed to being a little boy again and wanted to play with Lego. "Lego saved my life," he said.
Hammond says that at first he refused to believe that he had been in a crash at all and that he became aggressive, hitting out at hospital staff.
According to experts, such tendencies can be caused by damage to the frontal lobe of the brain, which plays a crucial role in memory and personality formation.
